How much sleep is adequate sleep?

It all depends on the person. The average adult requires between 7 and 9 hours of sleep a night, although some require less and some require more. Children need more sleep than adults, and women who are pregnant may need more sleep.

For me, I can function with only six hours of sleep. But, it is better to have eight to ten hours of sleep. If you sleep more than that, you will be tired instead of being refreshed.

The recommended amount of sleep for an average adult is anywhere between seven to eight hours of sleep. Teenagers require anywhere from eight to twelve hours of sleep in a given day. It is recommended to stay on a schedule with you sleeping pattern. Going to bed at a decent hour every night and waking up at the same time.
