The amount differs from person to person, as all bladders are different. Some health professionals estimate that the bladder can hold only 350mL of liquid, while others say that the bladder can hold 1000mL of liquid. 500mL of liquid is a reasonable and commonly accepted estimate for the adult bladder.

For most people, the urinary bladder can hold about 600-700 ml of urine. This is because the detrusor muscles inside the bladder can stretch out up to a certain limit only. A person can already feel the urge to urinate when the bladder contains about 150-200 ml of urine.
