According to the MIT website, tuition plus room and board in 2008-2009 were $47,250. This total did not include books or personal expenses. The school states that financial aid is available.

In 2008-2009, MIT cost $36,390 for tuition, about $11,000 for room and board, and roughly $3000 for books and fees. The good news is that MIT is quite generous with its scholarship monies. Families with an income of less than $75,000 are virtually covered by financial aid and other funding. Visit MIT's website and search for "tuition" to get details.

People who go to an expensive private school get financial aid, which is determined by your family's income. Also there are scholarships. Get stellar grades and investigate scholarships.

Tuition and fees for the 2008-2009 school year were $36,390. For the 2009-2010 year, they raised it by 3. 8% to $36,390. This is just tuition and fees, so you also have to figure in room and board, meals, books, supplies, and all the other living expenses you'll incur.
