How many calories a day should you eat to lose weight?

I am a female.

 +1 vote! +6 you voted Answer by  Anonymous If you are 10-90 lbs overweight, 1200 calories is the minimum required assuming you are in a coma and do not move. If you eat too little, you will actually gain fat and lose muscle. Check a BMR calculator to see what "too little" is for you.

In order to lose weight, you have to take in less calories than you burn. This way, you burn more than you take in, and that creates a deficit, thus creating weight loss.

Restricting intake too much leads to falling off the diet before your goals are met. Take a calcium, magnesium, vitamin D supplement to maintain bone.

For example lets say I want to wight 120 lbs multiply that by 10 that comes out to 1200 calories a day.
