It usually takes weeks after a plant has bloomed to see fruit, especially fully matured watermelons. Remember, the bloom becomes the fruit and then the fruit must grow and ripen.

After your watermelon plant is flowering be sure to water it every three days, or when it is completely dry. You can expect to see fruit in 60 to 90 days. This will of course depend on how much sun the plant gets each day and how warm the evenings are. The further south the sooner the melons will appear.

On average it takes a watermelon 120 days to grow from a bloom to a full fruit. This strongly depends on the type of watermelon, the temperature, and water amount.

The vine will produce a male flower first, followed by a female flower. Depending upon your soil conditions, temperatures, etc. , you may look for the melon at the base of the female flower roughly 60-90 days after flowering. Bees and such need to pollinate the female flower, you may also do this by hand.

You can expect to see actual watermelons in 90 days or at least 60 days. After that, the watermelons should be ready for you.
