The Marine Corps is technically a branch of the Navy, although they are functionally entirely separate. They do share ROTC branches and the naval academy for training officers, however.

The U. S. Marine Corps is a branch of the U. S. Navy, is included in the naval budget but holds a seat in the Joint Chiefts of Staff.
