The entire piece should be thoroughly cleaned to remove the flux material. Wearing rubber gloves, apply the patina liquid to the metal that frames the glass taking care to be sure it is totally covered, then apply the patina to the solder joints. Allow the patina liquid to dry before touching the item.

First of all, you have to make sure that your project has been all washed up. Secondly, you want to wax and polish your piece before you apply the patina substances. Then pour a small amount of the patina onto your project. Let it dry and then reapply the wax for a great effect.

"Patina" refers to surface-films, usually on metals or wood, due to: exposure/weathering, and/or polishing. Either adding metallic-salts to glass: quartz/silica-sand, CaO/calcium-oxide/lime, MgO/Magnesium-oxide, & Al2O3/Aluminum-oxide during during manufacturer, or applying paint(s) to glass, and then firing/kilning produces "stained glass". Different paints/surface-treatments result in different "patinas". Working glass-surfaces when hot/soft yields different-textures.

It's very easy to apply patina to stained glass--choose your color of patina, and put it on a cloth or paper towel, and then just rub it on your solder. Just make sure your solder is cooled and dry first.
