How is a tooth socket suppose to look after a tooth extraction?

I have had all four wisdom teeth cut out, and other teeth pulled. I'm too used to teeth sockets. It's going to be an open hole for a long time to come. Localized soreness and swelling should only last a few days unless you've developed an infection in the socket.

It looks a little strange. You do have a whole back there. If you see something on it or in it get to your dentist to wash it out.

A tooth extraction involves local anaesthesia and takes little time for the process to be completed. Once the injection is administered, the gum area around the tooth to be extacted feels numb and then the tooth is extacted within a couple of minutes. After extraction, the tooth socket seems like a mild shallow dent which evens out within a few days time.

Contrary to what you might believe, or to what you've seen in cartoons, there is no actual tooth socket. The gap closes quickly, and will be filled with soft, bloody tissue. As the wound heals, the tissue solidifies and become part of the gum. There might occasionally be a small indention left if the pulled tooth was somewhat big.

Depending on how long after the extraction you're actually looking at it, usually it will look like a hole full of congealed blood ( because that's what it is) It will start to look more like healing tissues within a couple of days. If it's looking like pus or bone you may be in trouble. Warm salty mouthwash to help

The socket may look dark on the outer rim. The is a bruise, there also may be some swelling. The socket itself will look like a dark hole.

To be honest, it looks exactly the same as your tooth. It's not much different and trust me no one will be able to tell.

You will simply have a big hole in that area with no bone chips inside showing. It will take a few weeks for that area to fill in so you must be careful when eating.

You should have a hole where the tooth used to be, I think that is what it should look like. But you would have to ask your dentist about it, the dentist would know more about the answer to that question. Best of luck to you on find it. Hope this helped.
