Demand for firefighters will always be there because they don't just fight fires. They have to handle all kinds of emergency response. If you have a genuine desire to help people and you can remain calm in stressful situations then it's a good job for you.

The demand for firefighters is going to mostly depend on what region you live in. Some areas have a greater need than others. There are still many smaller communities that only have volunteer fire departments. If you life in a large metropolitan area, there will be more opportunities for you.

There is always a need for firefighters. Whether fires are caused by broken gas lines, lightening, or arson, there has always been a strong need.

It depends completely on where you live. In many places, firefighters work on a volunteer basis (they don't get paid) but in cities they are hired like police, etc.
