A demand draft is a check that can be issued without the buyer's original signature on it. It will have to have your bank account number on it, though. These are becoming more popular because of the amount of people who now shop online.

I believe its used overseas mainly for payment with a over the phone (commonly known as a tele-check) that you don't have to sign for but do have to prove your identity.
