Question by  Arjun (58)

How expensive are trumpets?

My son wants to play the trumpet in the school band.

Answer by  john11 (617)

Trumpets differ in price range based on the model that you purchase. A nice brass Bundy will run you about $600. Though this is expensive, they are cheaper than most other brass instruments such as the French horn. You can purchase a used Bundy for prices in the 200 dollar range.

I would expect to pay somewhere in the $300 to $500 range for a "beginner" trumpet (versus a high quality high cost one). Check into rentals too!

Trumpets costs from in between $20 for a low grade model, which may be used to play in the school band. Intermediate to professional trumpets can be range from $200 to $1000. Trumpets can cost all the way up to $5000 for expensive models such as the Shilke and the Stradivarius.

You can get a beginners trumpet for around $200, but you can also spend up to thousands of dollars on a quality trumpet.

The price range is very wide ($99 to $4,000) depending on the quality and the material. For use in a school band, a reasonable price range would be $120 to $150.

The cheapest trumpets are sold for as low as $100-150, but they won't get him far. Good student models can be found in the $250-300 range, and will last longer.

I believe that you can get a used one for less than 100. For a brand new one you are looking at $200-300.
