It is extremely important for children as the body is relaxed during sleep and is allowed to stretch. Growth hormones are also released during sleep in both children and teenagers. Children who don't sleep enough also have trouble concentrating and can be grumpy during the day.

Insufficient sleep will not slow physical growth, but it can decrease the ability of the brain to learn. Too much sleep will not interfere with growth, but it can be a sign of metabolic disorders or illness that will interfere with growth. If your child isn't getting enough sleep, stop all caffeine and set a bed time.

When you sleep, it lets your muscles relax and they stratch out. When you are awake actually compress. Shrink about 1 inch when we awake. If you never sleep, your muscles dont relax and then how you would grow to much. The only time you grow is when you sleep
