A key principle of Buddhism is moderation. Indulgence is not ideal or even acceptable in Buddhism. The clothes you wear, food you eat and generally your lifestyle should be simple. In Buddhism, indulgence shows disrespect for your fellow humankind, the earth and its resources. Buddhism stresses living in peace with others and your natural environment.

Most indulgence should be avoided as one treads the middle ground, not avoiding all pleasures, but not indulging in hem either.
