How do you write an analysis essay?

I need the steps in writing an analysis essay.

Answer by  trixiejack (302)

Writing an analysis essay is fairly simple. First, make a thesis. This thesis should be a major thread holding your essay together. Then, write an introduction--introduce your thesis, the point of your analysis. Then write the essay part--explain how your thesis is supported in the text. Then, write a conclusion--explaining how the analysis proves your thesis.

Organize your data in 3 to 5 logical groupings. Write your essay with a paragraph introducing those groupings, paragraphs about each grouping, and conclusions you have drawn.

First you establish what it is you are analyzing, and why. This is your introduction, and it should end with a thesis statement that states what your analysis will find (or hopes to find). The body of the paper should contain only analysis that supports that statement. The conclusion then discusses what the practical applications of this analysis are.

Analyze whatever it is (poem, novel)--write each characteristic on an index card. Sort your cards by type of characteristic. The characteristic with largest number of cards becomes your thesis statement (this poet uses this poetic device to get across this meaning). Write the body first then intro and conclusion.
