Expository essays does one thing: explain a subject or a theme within a subject. The best way to write an expository essay is to do adequate research first. Write a draft while still doing research and then you will know what else you have to explain. Be clear and don't include everything, but the most important parts, so that your reader will understand quickly.

Expository essays use facts, not opinions, to explain a particular subject or question. The essay might describe how to do something, discuss an event or explore a problem. It opens with a thesis, a statement of the point you plan to make, and provides details to support that thesis.

An expository essay is one that explains how to do something. It would be about a procedure or the explanation of a topic.

An expository essay is one where you simply explain a topic. Instead of taking a strong position and defending it, you give well-rounded information about the subject.
