Table runners are used on the center of your table running the longest direction of your table. It's up to you if you want it to go all the way or not. Some people have them just touching the end of the table, others use them only in the center.

A table runner can be as long or short as you like. Play around with different styles of tables and runners. Use a longer runner on a coffee table or narrow hutch to display candles or a bowl of fruit. Or you can use a shorter runner on the dining room table at the holidays for extra decoration.

A table runner runs down the length of the table in the middle and should hang over each end a little.

You should have the ends of the table runner hanging over about 10 inches or so. Then you can place a centerpiece in the middle. You need to make sure the ends are hanging off the same so that they are centered properly.

Measure the table's width, length. Use table runner that is one-third the width of table. Place table runner at the center on top of tablecloth. Place centerpiece in the center of table. Use two table runners; place them across table width to create contemporary appeal. Use shorter table runner to highlight centerpiece. Use table runner without tablecloth to highlight table.
