Rat tail combs have the small pointed end that are used to make straight, sever and perfect parts. They are often used for separating sections for curls.

You use the comb part just like a regular comb. But the reason they made the rat tail comb is so that you can use the rat tail part of the handle to make nice straight parts in hair when doing braids and other different hair styles that rewuire the hair to be parted very straight.

No! I wouldn't mind using one but I find them ugly and they leave my hair looking awful. Plus they are hard to grab because of their rat tail (and it looks awful, doesn't it?)
