Warbles are the larvae of the bot-fly. Take your kit to the vet SOONEST, or deadly infection can ensue. The site needs to be incised, drained and antibiotics prescribed with follow-up care. This is not an "at-home" treatable condition. If these larvae infest close to the jugular or an artery, they can transect into them, causing a very painful death.

As a Vet Tech, you don't HAVE to take the animal to the vet. Pop it OUTSIDE when it gets engourged, then pour peroxide in it. Retreat everyday! I swear it will go away... not many fatalities over this!

Put vaseline over the hole and it will get out pretty quickly because it can't breathe, then put antibiotic ointment on it until it is healed.

I would put some bleach in the hole to kill it. I know it sounds bad but my great uncle used clorox for warbles for years on goats, rabbits, cats or whatever on the farm and it worked and the animal was fine.

Flies are the beginning of warbles as they lay eggs on places a cat will "visit" and the cat picks them up. Anti parasite medicine and professional removal are cures.
