How do you treat epilepsy in dogs?

Can he just have a seizure and then be fine?

Usually a vet does not treat one seizure or even a couple of seizures if they are far apart in time. Your vet may want to do some testing to see if a health issue triggered the seizure. Frequent seizures and seizures that happen one after the other called clusters are often treated with medications such as phenobarbital.

There is not a cure for epilepsy in dogs. Rather, treating epilepsy with medicine in dogs involve decreasing the severity and the frequency of the drugs.
