Treatment will depend on the type and severity of the disease. Treatment will always include management of the dog's diet. Medication, including insulin, will be required in some but not all cases.

Diabetes can be mild or very bad. A simple diet change and giving you dog necessary medications usually controls a mild case. But if the diabetes is severe, your dog may require insulin injections. Injections can be administered by the vet. You also can learn to properly administer the shots yourself. Check with a good vet.
