It really is a simple process of dig, lift and move. But depending on the size of the plant it can become more difficult. It's always important to make sure you get all of the major roots up and unharmed when transplanting.

To transplant a shrub, you need to dig a hole that is 2 1/2 times the diameter of the original pot. Dig deep enough that you can add some compost or soil amendments, and then plant at the same level as it was in the original pot.
