How do you take the brakes off a bike?

I am trying to play a prank on my friend.

Locate the rubber brake pads that contact either side of the wheel-- one per side. They should be attached to the frame through a small hole with only a screw and nut. Loosen the retaining nut from each brake with a wrench, unscrew it, and remove the brake pad. Perform on front and back tires, 4 brake pads total.
