The variety known as knockout roses is a hardy shrub rose developed by William Radler. Hand prune the tidy mound in early spring to about 12 inches. Trim as needed to keep the mound shape. Add 3 inches mulch, deadhead, fertilize, and water from the bottom as with any rosebush.
