A rose by any other name is still pruned the same. Prune to encourage new blooms, and clear dead leaf and twig. Leave the major pruning til they go dormant.

Pruning a knockout rose though out summer is a good way to insure longer growth and bloom for the season. You should also trim back any dead or aging areas of the rose during the fall. Then, in spring be sure to prune any areas that look weak or have no new growth.

No; you should only prune early in the season. When the heat rises excessive pruning will stunt the growth of the plant.

I prune them back hard to about 6 inches from the ground, Normally around Dec-Jan. During summer while they are growing I remove any stem crossing over another stem. If you have any roses that have more than one head per stem, when removing the dead heads cut the stem back about 6 inches from the top.

Knockout roses do not need pruning to encourage continous blooming, but it is okay to prune the bushes regularly during the summer to maintain them at a desired size. Knockout roses can be cut back in the spring to remove any limbs and branches that have been damaged by freezing temperatures.

No because everytime you clip anything on them that is growing it will die back down the stalk a bit because where ever you cut the vine bleeds. Prune them in the spring just as they start to green up but only clip the brown nothing green.

Only prune any kind of rose in the spring and be very careful how you do it let them green up and then look for where the brown stops thats where you clip then you arent clipping away any of the good healthy plant and many do often thats why people think roses are difficult to tend but they aren't.

Prune roses after they bloom. If you prune them before they bloom, they'll spend their time for new growth and won't bloom.
