Take banana peels and cut them up into little pieces with kitchen sheers then put them around the base of the bush also take egg shells and crumble them up and put them arond the base of the bush. If you find its a bug problem plant garlic around your roses the bugs will be gone.
If that is the case you need to get jobes plant spikes and put them in the soil around the plants. Also it sounds like you have a bug problem you need to plant garlic close to the roses the bugs will be gone.
Leaves are essential for a plant because they produce "food" for the plant. If your roses don't have leaves then you shoukd atleast make sure that use soil that is rich in nutrients and water the plant adequately.
The leaves on the rose bush should give you a clue as to what is happening. If it is insects then they usually leave some of the leaves on the rose. The holes will be jagged if it is beetles and round but long if it is caterpillars.
