I think the most important thing is to have a macro lens. This type of lens will capture subjects very close up. This is great for shooting flowers. Another great lens is a wide angle. I would use a 24mm. That way you capture a panorama of a landscape beautifully and get the feeling of the expanse of it.

Lighting is usually the key to taking great photos. If you have a point and shoot camera, they have an auto-adjust feature that will allow you to shoot in any lighting. Use the sun to your advantage, as a backdrop, or as a light source.
