The best thing to do with a hole in a gas tank is to take the tank of the car and make sure you drain all the fuel in it. Then you should clean out the gas tank because any left over fuel will catch on fire and melt the tank. Be careful and you should get a new tank.

First fill the tank with an inert gas to remove any flammable fumes. Then heat the surface of the tank at the hole with a brazing torch and apply solder.

Remove the gas tank. Fill with soapy water, risne until no gas smell is present. After it is dry, procede to solder.
