How do you safely trap groundhogs and relocate them somewhere else?

Answer by  raun08 (1839)

You don't! Groundhogs are disease reservoir, many of which can be transmissible to humans. They aren't dangerous if left alone, but it isn't advised for the average person to try and handle them. Aside from possibly infecting you, by relocating them you can assist in the spread of other diseases to places they hadn't yet reached.

With a commun wire rat trap, you need to prepare a food that attract the animal and put it into the trap, you need to put the trap near the groundhogs' house for a complete night and wait. When you trap the animals you can release them in the forest

Metal cage traps are perfect for this. They are easy to use and do not hurt the animal. Put veggies, fruit, bread...almost anything because they are not choosy, in the cage. Catch them and haul them off! Groundhogs forage during the day and do not go far from their homes.
