You must always take certain steps when you replace a fuel pump. Always have protective eye glasses. Please make sure the engine is cooled sufficiently. The negative terminal on your vehicle battery must be disconnected to prevent any sparks. Before you disconnect the fuel pump you must be certain that the pressure in the fuel line is relieved.

Depending on the Ford it will be located near or in the fuel tank. You will need to gain access to it by jacking up the car and looking for a small round pump motor near the tank. If you don't see it it will be located in the tank and you will need to remove the tank.

I am not mechanically inclined, but you could get the service manual if you understand the way it is written and use that to replace the fuel pump in aFord, the way I would do it is bring it to a mechanic though.

Depending on the model ford you will either have to drop the gas tank or look for an access hole above the tank. First drop the tank or remove access cover. Then remove retaining ring and pull out pump assembly. Clean off the surface and install the new pump. Reistall the retaining ring and put back into vehicle.
