Remove all accessories from the front of the engine (alternator, power steering pump, etc). Drain the coolant, remove the upper radiator hose. Remove the timing cover. Now unload the spring pressure on the belt tensioner, remove and replace the belt. Replace the timing cover and and all other accessories.

You will need to go to a local dealership or parts house and buy a timing belt. Put it on just as the other is/was.

To replace a Nissan Maxima timing belt, first, you must google and read instructions on how to do so completely and thoroughly. Then, gather the equipment needed to complete the job. Do your best to change the belt on your own. If all else fails, ask a professional for help.

You need a lot of tools. You need a socket set, pliers, wrench, screwdrivers, gauge. You have to open the front of the car, reach to the crank shaft, rotate the crank shaft until the "0" mark is aligned with the timing mark. Then change the belt.
