Under the dashboard you can easily find the brake light switch. The switch may be Bronze or Silver in colour. Unplug the switch & lose the bolt (you can also use a screwdriver). You can either mark it for easy replacement. Press the switch of the new light into the marked switch. Test it & you have done it.

It is often more timely and efficient to simply replace the switch rather than try to repair it. The switch is often found along the arm of the brake pedal, remove and replace.

Easy. Remove all screws that are keeping the switch in the dashboard. Disconnect the wires, remember to note the order of wiring so you can reconnect it correctly. Proceed in replacing the switch. The hardest part of it all will be dealing with the dash. Make sure you have the proper screwdriver bits.

You have to fix the brakes for the light to go off. If the light is still not going off after this, unplug the battery to reset it.

Because your brake lights are important and help prevent a rear end collision you should consult your local mechanic for advice. It may be more cost effective to go to a quick tire and lube type place that could get your car right in and out.

You will need to first take off your current broken switch. Then put your new one where your old one was.
