Vaseline is petroleum based, making it difficult to clean. You can try to remove it by first scraping as much off as you can with a spoon, followed by blotting with a paper towel, then covering with corn starch. Allow this to set for at least an hour, then vacuum.

A product called Grease Relief is the very best way to remove Vaseline from fabric. Grease Relief comes in a red spray bottle and is found in the laundry product section. It's easier to fine at Target and Walmart than it is at the grocery.

Since the couch cushion is like an unwashable fabric, sponge the dry fabric with a grease solvent or spot stain remover.Using a pad or sponge, pre treat the affected area with a dry cleaning fluid before sponging off with luke warm water and synthetic detergent. Then rinse off with warm water.
