Once the sap has dried, use a cloth soaked in alcohol to rub the dry tree sap. This will dissolve the sap and any residue can be cleaned either in the washing machine or with a damp cloth soaked in some detergent. You can use any alcohol from vodka to an alcohol hand sanitizer gel.

Rubbing alcohol works wonders for getting tree sap out of pants. Just soak a clean rag in rubbing alcohol, then scrub the sap spot and the goo will disappear. I have heard that nail polish remover will work also if you do not have rubbing alcohol, but I have never tried it.

Wash your jeans with your regular detergent and 20 Mule Team Borax! If it's really bad, you may have to soak them in the washer for awhile, but it really works.
