The protection from living in poverty were: finish a high school diploma (not just a GED), do not get married before the age of 20, and do not have a child out of wedlock. Those couples that managed this had a poverty rate of less than 5%. Those that met one of those criteria had a rate over 15%.

The biggest way you can prevent poverty in your household is to save up as much money as possible. Get a good savings account going and get yourself an excellent job. If you really strive hard to get farther in life you will never have to experience poverty ever again!

The best way is to help people get educated. I believe anybody that obtains an education learns to improve their status.
