Photos from your surgery should be part of your personal medical record and should be available to you upon request to the doctor or facility performing your surgery.

Make this request to your doctor before you go in for surgery. It's not standard to take photos during surgery, but if you ask ahead of time, they'll accommodate you.

you'll need to ask if they take pictures or allow you to have copies. Every state and hospital has different laws and procedures. If the hospital allows you to take photos, but do not have the equipment, you can have one of the nurses take pictures or videos using your own camera.
