How do you make vegetable dye?

Isn't it safer than store bought dye?

Safer yes, but not as long lasting. When I needed to make school costumes, I could not match the colors I needed in the fabric store. So I used Blueberry Juice for the Blue and Lemons for the Soft Yellow I needed. I boiled the fabric with the juices and left it to dry.
