How do you know what distance you've hit a golf ball?

There are a few ways that make it easy to know. The easiest, is to use a laser range finder that you can "paint" your golf ball with and the distance will be returned. The less simple ways are judging where it is by the map of the course, or simply knowing through years of experience judging distance.

The scoresheet will have the length of every individual hole. You can estimate the distance from the green and subtract that from the tee box. Example - if you are 150 yards from the green and the hole is 375 yards, your tee shot was hit 225 yards.
