How do you know if a signed Elvis picture is authentic?

I found one at a garage sale.

There are experts in the field of autographs. These professionals, like a handwriting expert, know what to look for. They have access to authentic signatures and then can compare them to autographs. You can contact such an expert and pay for him/her to examine your item and issue a Certificate of Authenticity, which then validates it.

In order to find out if the signed Elvis picture is authentic you will have to bring the picture to an appraiser or someone who specializes in these celebrity autographs.

Only a professional can determine if it is truly authentic, or perhaps a Elvis historian. If you don't want to go either route, if you know who is selling it (trust) it might help. Also, you can look on various websites to see Elvis' real autograph. If they look similiar, it just might be.

A historian or curators can check the signatures to see if it is real or not. Take it to the local museum. They can help.

Your best bet is to find a forensic handwriting expert that specializes in celebrity autographs. There are plenty online but make sure you check that they have legitimate credentials before paying. A lot of these guys will tell you it's legitimate just to make a buck so do your homework.
