How do you install an overhead fan with lights?

First make sure that all power going to the lights is shut off, and that you've flipped your breaker. Then remove the old fan if their is one, and the secure the new one with appropriate screws.

If there is already a light fixture in the ceiling, then you just have to turn off the power, then disconnect the light fixture and attach the fan to the ceiling, making sure that you match the wire colors and secure the fan to the mounting bracket in the ceiling.

Can be installed with ease. Turn off breaker to the fan. Take off existing light fixture. Since the light is heavy the box need to attached to a stud or braced to a stud. Light usually has a hook to hang it while you attach wires together. Make sure grounded wire is attached. Screw in light fixture.

It is a bit involved; you need to follow the instructions in the light/fan kit. You need to find a stud in the ceiling to screw mount the light, identify the proper wires to power the fan and the light, and then connect the right wires on the fan/light to the right wires in the ceiling to power it.
