How do you help people who lie?

They can be helped only if they want to be. First you should let the person know that you know they're not telling the truth and tell them how you know it. Some believe a compulsive liar can't be helped.

People lie for one of two reasons, they have no self esteem, or they can not face the criticism when caught doing something others perceive as being wrong. Figure out which of these categories your liar falls into and fill the void where needed.

First you must determine the motivation for the lies. Does this person lie from fear? From lack of self esteem? Then, help them learn to trust the truth.
