No, a lie is never good to tell. You should always be up straight and honest. Not even to protect someone's feelings. If they are asking you for your opinion than they are wanting the truth and not the lie. I always tell someone the truth and they say thank you for being straight up with me.

Lies can be deceitful and can get you in more trouble. It is better to tell the truth and live with it than it is to lie.

There are many occasions where it is ok to lie. It will take a lifetime to learn which occasions those are. Just try to use your best judgement.
