On the ceiling you will need to install a pair of brackets that basically have a plate and screws on the ceiling end, and a hook on the rod end.

You need to find the studs, or joints, just as you do when hanging a curtain rod on the wall. If the planned curtain is light, molly bolt in drywall may be enough to hold the weight. There are special hooks designed for curtains being hung from the ceilings. Generally these may have rods that slip into a full circle.

Suspend the curtain rod at both ends with something that is not noticeable, but that will support the weight of whatever you want to hang on the curtain rod. Fishing line works well. If you have a suspended ceiling, simply move aside some tiles and secure the lines on a beam. For a solid ceiling, install hooks.

Curtina rod can be easily hanged from the ceiling by getting two hooks fixed in the ceiling at a distance equal to the length of the curtain rod and then from those hooks two seperate chains could be fixed to be joined with the curtain rod.
