The traditional way raccoon hunting is preformed was with special hunting dogs that would chase the raccoon till it was forced to run up a tree. Another way you can hunt raccoon, is to set traps around where Raccoons try to hide, generally in old houses or structures. A few different methods to try, and always test new bait.

The most important thing to remember when you go raccoon hunting is, always carry a gun. Without a gun you have no chance.

Typically raccoon hunting, also called coon hunting, is done at night. A small party goes out into the woods with a coon dog, which is trained to tree coons. The dog will chase a coon up into a tree, and will bark until you find the tree. Then, someone goes up into the tree to shake the coon down.
