One of the most common ways to propagate honeysuckle is through a process called layering. Start with a one year old stem and bend it to the ground. Pin down the shoot about 6-9 inches from the tip. Next, cover the base and leave the tip above ground. The shoot should root but the end of the season.

Cut approximately a 5" piece of vine directly below the node(leaf joins stem) and strip bottom leaves. Dip section to be planted into rooting product and place in small pot, making sure at least 2" is planted below soil. Water and plants will grow within three weeks.

Honeysuckle is easy to propagate. Cut 5" sections just below a node, with the leaves pinched off where you are going to plant it. Insert 2" deep into potting soil, keep constantly moist, but never waterlogged. In 3-4 wks, give a tug, and if well rooted, transplant.

It is best to get a cutting from a vine in the Spring, with all of the new growth. Try to get close to the bottom and a length with several sets of leaves. Let the cutting sit in water for roots to grow; changing water often.

Simply cut above and below the leafy part of an already existing honeysuckle stem that has buds growing on it. Then, place plant growth stimulator on the newly cut edges to promote growth. Once roots begin to appear, simply plant and water. This method is called the "double eye" method and refers to the plant buds which look like eyes.

I would strongly urge you to consider not planting honeysuckle in your garden. It is very aggressive plant and you have to keep in check. However, if you want you just need to dig it up make sure you get the root system and plant it where you want it.

To propagate honeysuckle, take a long shoot that is about one year old and bend down to the ground. Cover some of the stem in dirt and leave the tip of the shoot exposed. The plant should take hold in about one growing season. Stake the plant for stability during growth.

Placing a section of young vine into a pot filled with potting soil, so that the part of the vine still attached to the mother plant comes in on one side and the tip extends out the other side. Water as needed and cut from mother plant when roots have taken in a few months.
