How do you get rid of pop ups on your computer?

Getting rid of pop-ups is usually a matter of removing spyware or adware from your computer and being careful about which sites you visit. A good program for removing adware, spyware and other malware is Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Many browsers such as Firefox also have pop-up blocking features that can be enhanced with add-ons.

There are two sources for pop-ups: spyware on the computer or pop-up scripts on your email source. If you have spyware, download spybot or ad-aware (both free programs) and run them to remove/quarantine the spyware. If your email client is producing pop-ups, try automatically forwarding your email to a Yahoo! or GMail account, whose websites don't have popups.

Many browsers now offer pop-up blocker software. If not, there are plenty of freeware applications that you can download. Try cnet. com for starters.

On the right hand side of your toolbar at the top of your computer is a "Tools" link. Click that and a "Pop-up Blocker" will show. Click that and click "Turn-on Pop-Up Blocker. "
