If you are already the legal guardian of your children, then you have de facto power of attorney over them. if you are not the legal guardian, then you need to obtain custody or be granted power of attorney from the current guardian

Parents of minor children have legal authority over them. Minor children do not need to assign power of attorney to anyone. Adult children can assign POA to a parent by filling out the proper forms and having them notarized.

A parent already has the power to act in their child's best interest. A non-parent may need a special paper that give certain rights to non-parent to make decisions.
