The easiest and quickest way to fix a water pipe is to dig to where the pipe is leaking and cut a section of the pipe out and replace it with a small patch pipe

You have to dig up the area, find the pipe and breakage and fix it. This is a messy job, you will probably need to replant grass.

A broken pipe in the yard could be fixed by affixing black plastic tape, used by the electricians, on the broken part.
