Find the area(l x w x h) of where you would want to place it. Divide it by how many square feet each bag covers. There's your answer.

An 80 pound bag makes 1.785 square foot at 4 inches thick, and 1.205 square foot at 6 inches thick. Take the square footage of your project and divide by one of those numbers depending on your desired thickness. For example: 100 square feet / 1.785 = 57 bags (rounded.)
