When setting goals i always found it important to set long term goals, and short term goals. the short term goals usually will lead up to the long term goal. Another thing to remember is to make each goal attainable in a reasonable amount of time. ie you dont wanna see a goal for 50 years down the road.

The goals you set for yourself will ultimately relate to the sport you are participating in. They can be personal goals(become a starter or score 10 points) or team goals(Win 10 games or Win a championship). Whatever the goals maybe they have to be achievable while still challenging you to perform your best.

Setting goals will vary from athlete to athlete. A goal should be something reasonable for you to accomplish, yet it should require a good amount of hard work, discipline, and motivation.
