Gallons describes a volume, whereas ounces describes mass. Fluid-ounces (floz) is the appropriate unit to describe fluid by weight, 1 US Gallon is 128 fluid ounces. The mathematical conversion is Gl x 128 = Fl. Oz. And in reverse Fl. oz / 128 = us gal.

Every gallon contains 128 ounces so you can take the amount of gallons you have and multiply that number by 128 to get your answer.
